Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo is a first-generation Chicana born and raised in San Gabriel, CA. Her debut collection is Posada: Offerings of Witness and Refuge (Sundress Publications 2016). She is a former Steinbeck fellow, Poets & Writers California Writers Exchange poetry winner, Barbara Deming Memorial Fund/Money for Women grantee, and L.A. Library ALOUD newer poet. She is a cofounder and Executive Director of Women Who Submit <http://womenwhosubmitlit.org/>, an organization dedicated to empowering women and non-binary authors to submit work for publication. She was the first "Poet in the Parks" resident at Gettysburg National Military Park, sponsored by the Poetry Foundation and the National Parks Arts Foundation. Her work has appeared in Acentos Review, CALYX, crazyhorse, [Pank], and American Poetry Review among others. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles.
